Our Team

Meet Kayleb
Kayleb O’Connor TEP is the Principal of Coal Coast Legal and a trusted adviser to families, business owners and primary producers seeking clarity, confidence and long-term protection of their wealth. Known for his calm, strategic approach, he provides advice that is clear, practical and grounded in real-world experience.
Kayleb specialises in strategic estate planning and succession advisory, designing structures that preserve family harmony, minimise disputes and support the orderly transition of wealth and control. He is regularly instructed in matters involving multi-entity asset structures, high-value estates, multi-generational farming enterprises and blended family arrangements.
His practice also extends to business advisory and commercial litigation, enabling him to support clients across both their personal and commercial affairs. This breadth of experience allows him to deliver integrated advice that identifies how legal, financial and commercial issues intersect, ensuring strategies are aligned and practical.
Growing up in a financial planning practice, Kayleb developed a multidisciplinary perspective that continues to shape his approach. He works closely with accountants, financial advisers, wealth managers and rural consultants to deliver cohesive, outcomes-focused advice.
He also guides executors and families through probate and estate administration with clarity and efficiency. His experience in estate litigation, including family provision claims and contested probate matters, allows him to advise confidently across the full spectrum of estate matters both in the planning and dispute space.
Kayleb is among a select group of solicitors nationally trained in collaborative practice for wills and estates, offering clients a constructive, relationship-focused pathway to resolve disputes and has a proven track record of using the collaborative model to help families.
He is a Full Member of STEP (TEP), recognised internationally for expertise in trusts and estates, and the 2026 winner of the Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Awards (Wills & Estates).
Outside the office, Kayleb enjoys time with his young family, exploring & fly fishing across regional NSW and playing golf.
